i'm sure all of you know this famous bald guy huh!!

because of him, most of semester 01 interior design students had been inspired to be part of interior design...tv program such as casa impian..deko bersama eric & etc...give the wrong perception for those youngster about the real world of interior design....it's all about AESTHETIC VALUES...while interior design is totally different from all those things...in interior design..YES..we do have the appreciation of the aesthetic values..BUT its gonna be the final touch up after the other importants design process had been done...it might takes about less that 10% of the whole design works...(i mean the decoration part)...

so what's exactly, the interior designer is dealing and doing????
INTERIOR DESIGNER??
Interior design is a profession in which creative and technical solutions are applied within a structure to achieve a built interior environment. Interior designers work with clients and other design professionals to develop design solutions that are safe, functional, attractive and meet the needs of the people using the space.
INTERIOR DESIGN : PROBLEM SOLVER. Mr David Hartwell, my lovely lecturer from DMU said that, INTERIOR DESIGNER is the CIA Agent...We've got to investigate any related issues with our surroundings which may give the huge impact in our design. Identify the clients' needs included people who might use the space..Do a research about any other issues : new technologies, new smart material, global issues : global warming, green design, etc. The most important part : create our own identity through design...avoid the copycat trademark that has been applied critically in interior design's world nowadays...
Interior designers must also understand the artistic and technical requirements of a project, interpersonal communication, and management strategies.
ARTISTIC and TECHNICAL REQUIREMENT
how to plan a space
how to present that plan visually
know about the materials and products that will be used to create and furnish the space, and how texture, colour, lighting and other factors combine and interact to make a space
understand the structural requirements of their plans, the health and safety issues, building codes, and many other technical aspects
INTERPERSONAL COMMUNICATION
meeting and dealing with many kinds of people
communicate clearly and effectively, as well as be attentive listener
must be willing to negotiate and mediate when necessary to solve problems
- must have excellent time and project management abilities since they frequently work on more than one project at a time under demanding deadlines
- create informative and persuasive proposals and presentation
see the differences ?? this is just an introduction...hee...i'm not explaining in detail about the design process that we need to go through to achieve the successful design works...
PEOPLE OUT THERE : all you have to do is to twist your mind setting about designer and decorator...
MY DEAR STUDENTS : you've still got time to change your focus and perception before it's too late...once your mind setting has already in the right track..then, you know the importance of being unique, creative & individual...no more "copycat"..no more "take it easy" attitude...no more "study smart"...work harder...that's the right word i guess...i dont believe in people who think they are "smart" to be successful...they take the easy ways to achieve their target without work hard for it..NO NO NO..i dont believe on that...you need to work hard...practice makes perfect...more focus...

it's a huge challenge for me to educate, guide, encourage all of my students to be a great designer some days..InsyaAllah with all the knowledge and skills that i have, i'll share everything with them.
...ONE DAY i would like to hear that one of their name has been listed as the TOP TEN well known designer...
